The Faculty of Medicine Continues Its Leadership in Advancing Medical Education… 17 New Training Rooms at the Medical Simulation Center to Enhance the Skills of Future Doctors

In a significant step reflecting the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University to advancing medical education and enhancing the quality of clinical training, the faculty continues its efforts to modernize its educational infrastructure and expand the use of advanced medical simulation technologies. These efforts aim to prepare scientifically and professionally qualified medical professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in medical practice.

These initiatives are carried out under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and the directives of Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, with the support of Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs. They aim to enhance the quality of practical training, expand opportunities for the early acquisition of clinical skills, and achieve greater integration between theoretical education and practical application.

The faculty’s training facilities have been expanded with the addition of the second phase of the Medical Simulation Center (Simulation Center 2), located on the first floor of the faculty building. The new facility includes 17 training rooms, complementing the nine rooms in the existing center and bringing the total number to 26. This expansion represents a significant advancement in the faculty’s training capabilities, providing students with greater opportunities to acquire essential medical and clinical skills in an advanced educational environment.

The expansion is supported by advanced medical equipment and simulation models that enable students to practice a wide range of medical procedures and skills, enhancing their practical competence and readiness to enter the clinical phase of their education.

The training program covers a diverse range of medical skills, including fundoscopy, otoscopy, urinary catheterization, surgical suturing, blood sampling, various injection techniques, intravenous catheter insertion, airway management, nasogastric tube insertion, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It also includes training in auscultation of normal and abnormal heart and lung sounds.

These skills are essential for preparing medical students to manage various medical situations, develop their ability to perform clinical examinations and basic medical procedures, and respond effectively to emergencies. The program also strengthens the integration of practical training into academic curricula, providing students with early hands-on experience that supports their transition to clinical training.

The Medical Simulation Center provides a safe, interactive learning environment that replicates real-life medical scenarios, allowing students to practice and repeat medical procedures under specialized supervision. Through continuous guidance and feedback, students can develop their skills and build confidence before interacting directly with patients, while reinforcing the principles of patient safety and quality healthcare.

Under the leadership of Prof. Dina Hany, Director of the Faculty's Medical Simulation Center, and in collaboration with academic and clinical departments, the center works to develop the practical training system and provide an integrated educational environment aligned with the latest international trends in medical education.

This expansion reflects the continued efforts of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University to achieve a qualitative transformation in medical education and training through investment in educational infrastructure and the development of innovative training methods. It further strengthens the faculty’s position as a leading academic and medical institution and supports its mission to prepare future doctors capable of delivering high-quality healthcare and serving the community with competence and professionalism.
