The Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University Welcomes a Team of Reviewers and Experts from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, welcomed a team of reviewers and experts from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as part of a verification visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy, following the international accreditation of the Faculty’s PharmD and PharmD–Clinical Pharmacy programs by ACPE.

   
   

The meeting was attended by Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Rehab Othman, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Rola Milad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Myriam Farid Ayad, Director of the University’s Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center; Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of the International Relations Department; Prof. Lamia El-Wakeel, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department and Coordinator of Postgraduate Programs; and Dr. Rana Sayed, Director of the Faculty’s Quality Assurance Unit.

The team of reviewers and experts included Dr. Dawn Zarembski, Associate Director of Accreditation and Acting Director of International Services Program (ISP); Dr. Mary Kiersma, Associate Director of Professional Degree Program Accreditation; and Prof. Nahla El-Ashmawy, observer representing the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development at the British University in Egypt.

During the visit, the review team held a series of meetings with the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty, heads of academic departments, faculty members, representatives of student services, and those responsible for students’ field training, as well as representatives of students from different academic years. The meetings aimed to review various aspects of the educational and academic process and the services provided to students.

The team also conducted an extensive tour of the faculty, including lecture halls, laboratories, the library, computer labs, the medical center, and student activity areas, as well as various units and centers within the faculty. The tour provided the team with a closer look at the educational environment, facilities, equipment, and services available to students.

Members of the review team commended the Faculty of Pharmacy for its commitment to quality and accreditation standards, highlighting the clear efforts they observed in implementing international standards for pharmacy education and the faculty’s commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating learning environment for students.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, affirmed that the Faculty of Pharmacy’s accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for its PharmD and PharmD–Clinical Pharmacy programs, making it the first public Faculty of Pharmacy in Egypt to receive this international accreditation, represents a significant achievement that further strengthens Ain Shams University’s record of academic leadership.

He noted that this achievement is the result of collective efforts and an ongoing journey of development and excellence. It reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to implementing the highest standards of pharmacy education quality and international academic accreditation, enhancing its ability to prepare graduates who are qualified to compete at both the local and international levels and further strengthening Ain Shams University’s position on the global higher education landscape.
