The Faculty of Agriculture Inaugurates Two New Poultry Houses at the Shalakan Agricultural Research and Experimental Center

Under the directives of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, to maximize the utilization of the University’s capabilities and productive resources and develop its research, training, and production units in a manner that strengthens its role in community service, Prof. Walaa Abdel Ghany, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Ain Shams University, inaugurated two poultry houses at the Shalakan Agricultural Research and Experimental Center during an extensive inspection tour.

The two poultry houses have been equipped with the latest equipment and facilities to support scientific research and experiments, provide an appropriate environment for practical and applied training, and contribute to increasing production and optimizing the use of available resources for the benefit of the faculty community.

During the tour, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture also inspected the faculty’s rice fields at the Center and reviewed the overall condition of the crop and ongoing preparations for the harvesting and processing season. The faculty’s rice production is scheduled to be marketed and offered to Ain Shams University employees at reduced prices, in implementation of the University President’s directives and as part of the University’s commitment to supporting its community and maximizing the benefits of its farms and production units.

The Dean was accompanied during the tour by Prof. Ahmed Abu El-Yazid Abdel Hafez, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Salah El-Safty, Head of the Poultry Production Department Council and Supervisor of the Agricultural Research and Experimental Center.

The tour included an inspection of several facilities and units at the Center, including classrooms designated for students, student accommodation facilities during training periods, administrative offices, dining halls, the dairy processing facility, the animal production farm and warehouses, as well as pesticide and fertilizer storage facilities. The Dean reviewed the level of preparedness and compliance with the regulations and requirements governing operations.

Prof. Walaa Abdel Ghany, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance the efficiency of the facilities at the Shalakan Agricultural Research and Experimental Center and further developing its production and research units, while ensuring full compliance with safety and security requirements and providing an appropriate environment for students’ practical and applied training. These efforts aim to maximize the benefits derived from the available resources and capabilities.

He explained that the Shalakan Agricultural Research and Experimental Center serves as a key arm of the faculty in the fields of education, training, scientific research, and production. He noted that the Center’s development plan aims to achieve integration among its academic, research, production, and community roles, thereby serving the faculty’s students and staff, as well as the wider Ain Shams University community, while supporting the University’s mission of Community Service and Environmental Development.
