Director of the Center of Excellence for Sustainability Discusses the University’s Seventh Place Ranking in Sustainability and Its Transition Toward a Green University
Ain Shams University has achieved a new milestone in sustainability and its transition toward a green university, ranking seventh among Egyptian universities, tenth in Africa, and 468th globally out of 2,016 participating universities worldwide, according to the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.
Dr. Ahmed El-Awady, Director of the Center of Excellence for Sustainability at Ain Shams University, discussed the University’s ranking results during the “Egypt Today” program, highlighting the progress it has made in sustainability and its transition toward the green university model.
The ranking reflects the University’s efforts to promote sustainability concepts and strengthen practices aimed at creating a greener university environment, as part of its commitment to developing its institutional framework in line with sustainable development requirements.
