Ain Shams University’s men’s and women’s badminton team secured second place and the silver medal at the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” following a strong run to the final.

In the singles and doubles events, Ain Shams University players continued their outstanding performance. Student Ahmed Ali El-Bahnasawy claimed first place and the gold medal in the men’s singles event, while Ahmed Ali El-Bahnasawy and Youssef Mohamed Hussein secured first place and the gold medal in the men’s doubles event.

With these results, Ain Shams University’s medal tally in badminton rose to two gold medals and one silver, marking a significant sporting achievement that reflects the excellence of the University’s students and their ability to compete and secure top positions at the African level.

This achievement comes as part of Ain Shams University’s participation in the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” represented by the Education and Student Affairs Sector and the General Administration of Youth Welfare, Sports Activities Department, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.

The University’s participation is coordinated and administratively supervised by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector.
