Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Yomna Safwat, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Supervisor of the Japanese Language Department, received a delegation from the Japan Foundation, Cairo, headed by Mr. Endo Banri, Deputy Director of the Foundation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Abdelrahman Oshaiba, Lecturer at the Faculty’s Japanese Language Department, as part of the Faculty of Al-Alsun’s commitment to strengthening its academic and cultural ties with specialized international institutions and organizations.

At the outset of the meeting, Prof. Yomna Safwat welcomed the Japanese delegation and expressed her appreciation for the longstanding and close cooperation between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the Japan Foundation, Cairo, particularly in the field of Japanese language education. This cooperation spans more than 25 years, dating back to the establishment of the Faculty’s Japanese Language Department in 2000. She emphasized the importance of continuing this partnership to support Japanese language learners and further strengthen academic and cultural ties between Egypt and Japan.

The meeting addressed the arrangements and preparations for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), which is held at the Faculty of Al-Alsun every December. This year marks the sixth consecutive time the faculty will host the test, reflecting its position as a key academic hub for Japanese language learners and the significance of the JLPT at both the local and regional levels.

For his part, Mr. Endo Banri, Deputy Director of the Japan Foundation, Cairo, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Al-Alsun for their ongoing cooperation and for hosting the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. He highlighted the important role played by the faculty in making the test accessible to Japanese language learners in Egypt and neighboring countries.

He noted that, in addition to Egyptian students, the test attracts participants from neighboring Arab countries who travel to Egypt to take the JLPT at the Faculty of Al-Alsun. This reflects the test’s growing prominence and underscores the academic role played by Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Al-Alsun at both the local and regional levels in promoting Japanese language education.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain coordination and communication in the coming period and to further expand cultural and academic cooperation. These efforts aim to advance the longstanding partnership between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the Japan Foundation, Cairo, promote mutual benefit, and better serve Japanese language learners.
