The Board of Directors of the Nanotechnology Center Ain Shams University held its regular meeting, chaired by Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, to review the final preparations for the Center’s full-scale operations and assess the readiness of its laboratories and equipment, ahead of receiving samples and providing research andtraining services.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Nabil Sabry, Deputy Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors; Prof. Mohamed Abdel Hay Ahmed, Director of the Center; and Board members Prof. Saad El-Sayed Hassan, Prof. Ashraf Bakry Abdo, Prof. Tamer Abdullah Sharaf, Prof. Bassam Saad, Prof. Sahar Mohamed Omar, and Prof. Rania Aziz.

Prof. Amany Osama Kamel opened the meeting by welcoming the Board members, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts during the coming period to ensure the Center becomes fully operational and to maximize the use of its advanced facilities and equipment. She noted that this would support Ain Shams University’s research ecosystem and strengthen its capacity to provide specialized research services in accordance with the highest standards.

The Board discussed the latest developments in preparing and operating the Nanotechnology Center, reviewing the status of the key equipment already delivered to the Center. Emphasis was placed on monitoring the technical and operational condition of each instrument and assigning personnel responsible for operating the equipment and laboratories to ensure operational efficiency and sustainable performance.

The Board also reviewed ongoing work to prepare the Center and upgrade its infrastructure, including the installation of protective ceilings, in line with the requirements for the safe operation of equipment and laboratories.

Prof. Amany Osama Kamel emphasized the need to complete all preparations required for laboratory operations, begin operating the equipment, and start receiving samples. She also called for establishing a clear and integrated mechanism for sample reception and activating the electronic system to streamline procedures and enhance the efficiency of services provided to researchers and beneficiary institutions.

She further stressed the importance of developing a plan to raise awareness of the Center’s capabilities and equipment and promote the services it provides, highlighting the capabilities of each instrument, its areas of application, and the research and practical value it offers to researchers and various institutions.

The meeting also discussed the Center’s introductory brochure, which includes information on its equipment, laboratories, capabilities, and available services. Board members were tasked with thoroughly reviewing the brochure’s content, verifying the accuracy of all data and information, and ensuring that its final presentation reflects the standing of Ain Shams University, ahead of completing the procedures for its approval by the University Council.

The Board also discussed the Center’s training system, emphasizing the importance of providing specialized training on the operation and use of equipment by highly qualified experts and specialists, while making full use of the Center’s well-equipped training facilities.

The Center’s plan includes providing training opportunities for students, graduates, and researchers, contributing to the development of qualified scientific professionals capable of working with the latest nanotechnology techniques and equipment, while maximizing the benefits of the Center’s available research capabilities.

The Board reviewed progress in the installation and operation of the Center’s equipment, marking an important step toward completing its advanced research infrastructure and launching specialized services in testing, analysis, and nanotechnology-related research.

Concluding the meeting, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel stressed the importance of swiftly completing all technical and administrative procedures required for the Center to become fully operational and transforming its advanced capabilities and facilities into effective research and training services. This will support researchers and postgraduate students and further strengthen Ain Shams University’s role in scientific research and advanced nanotechnology applications.
