For the fourth consecutive year and with 14 consecutive Diamond Awards: Ain Shams University Hospitals continue to solidify their position on the global medical excellence map

In a new international achievement reflecting Ain Shams University's leadership and the excellence of its medical system, the university's hospitals have continued their strong presence on the global healthcare map. The Stroke and Cerebral Catheterization Unit (Prof. Hani Aref's Unit) received the Diamond Status award from the Angels Initiative for the second quarter of 2026, marking the unit's fourteenth consecutive Diamond Status award.

This achievement underscores Ain Shams University's ability to maintain performance levels that meet the highest international standards. It also reflects the university's strategy of developing its hospitals, enhancing the quality of healthcare services, investing in specialized medical personnel, and aligning clinical practice with the latest global protocols and standards.

This achievement comes under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ali El Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals; and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and through the efforts of the Stroke and Cerebral Thrombosis Unit team, headed by Prof. Ahmed Bassiouni.

The award is particularly significant as it does not represent a fleeting success or an isolated achievement, but rather reflects the sustained institutional excellence within Ain Shams University Hospitals. The unit has maintained its global Diamond level for four consecutive years, achieving four awards in 2023, four in 2024, four in 2025, and two awards in the first and second quarters of 2026, for a total of 14 consecutive Diamond awards.

This recognition reinforces Ain Shams University's position as one of the leading academic and medical institutions in Egypt and the region, especially since the Stroke Unit at the university hospitals was the first unit in Egypt to top this global ranking. It has maintained its distinguished position through the continuous application of international quality standards in stroke care.

This level of performance reflects the vision of Ain Shams University Hospitals to integrate international standards into daily practice. The stroke care system relies on rapid diagnosis, accurate medical decision-making, swift intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration—all crucial factors in saving patients' lives, reducing complications, and improving recovery rates.

This achievement also reflects Ain Shams University's highly qualified medical and scientific staff, specialized treatment infrastructure, and accumulated expertise, all of which have contributed to transforming its university hospitals into leading centers that combine advanced medical care with medical education, training, and scientific research.

This success is the fruit of an integrated system built over the years by current and former faculty staff, resident physicians, assistant lecturers, and interns, along with nursing, technical, and administrative teams. This underscores that sustained excellence is the product of institutional and cumulative work, which Ain Shams University supports and is committed to continuously developing.

With its fourteenth award, Ain Shams University Hospitals not only adds another international accolade to its record of achievements, but also reaffirms its ability to continue and compete according to global standards. This further solidifies its position as a leading medical and academic institution and a distinguished Egyptian model in the diagnosis and treatment of strokes, thus supporting Ain Shams University's role in advancing the healthcare system and serving the community.
