Ain Shams University offers a program in "Archaeological and Heritage Information Systems" to prepare specialists in archaeology, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology at Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Archaeology at Ain Shams University, in keeping with global developments in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, is offering the Archaeological and Heritage Information Systems (AHIS) program. This distinguished interdisciplinary program, implemented in collaboration with the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, aims to prepare qualified professionals capable of utilizing the latest digital technologies in the preservation, management, and documentation of cultural heritage according to the most up-to-date international standards.
The program, whose courses are taught in English, is an excellent opportunity for science students who wish to combine archaeology with modern technology, thus qualifying them to compete in the labor market at the local, regional, and international levels.
Through the program, students acquire an advanced set of skills, including professional photography, two-dimensional and three-dimensional scanning of archaeological sites and artifacts, designing three-dimensional models and interactive applications using virtual reality, augmented reality and extended reality (VR/AR/XR) technologies, in addition to developing heritage-related software and databases, applying geographic information systems (GIS), and utilizing artificial intelligence applications in documenting, analyzing and preserving cultural heritage, as well as managing the information infrastructure of museums and cultural institutions.
