Under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Karim El-Batouty, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and under the supervision of the Faculty's Education and Student Affairs Sector, the First Summer Camp 2026 at the Faculty of Dentistry has officially commenced and will continue through 30 July 2026.

The camp reflects the faculty’s vision of supporting student activities while enhancing students' academic and practical competencies through a comprehensive training program that integrates academic learning with hands-on clinical experience. This year's activities are held under the theme "Beyond Innovation in Dentistry."

The camp opened with a series of specialized preparatory workshops designed to equip students with essential scientific and practical skills ahead of the main program.

The first workshop, "Photography Like a Pro," was launched on 15 July 2026 with a hands-on session titled "Mastering Dental Photography Using DSLR Cameras." The workshop was delivered by Dr. Amr El-Deeb, Lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry, together with members of his department. Targeting undergraduate students, the workshop focused on developing professional dental photography skills, an essential component of scientific documentation and the academic presentation of clinical cases. Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to benefiting from the advanced training provided.

The second preparatory activity featured a distinguished five-day training program organized by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, offering small groups of undergraduate students the unique opportunity to enter operating rooms and observe major and minor surgical procedures performed by faculty staff. Students received comprehensive explanations of each clinical case, helping bridge the gap between theoretical education and clinical practice while strengthening their understanding of modern surgical procedures. The program was supervised by Prof. Mohamed Katamesh, Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in collaboration with the department's faculty staff, who delivered an outstanding educational experience reflecting the faculty’s academic excellence.

The Summer Camp will continue until 30 July 2026, featuring a rich schedule of specialized lectures and scientific workshops aimed at strengthening students' academic knowledge and practical competencies. Activities also include a Recycling Project Competition to promote sustainability awareness, alongside a variety of sports and recreational events for participating students.

The scientific program covers several cutting-edge topics in dentistry, including digital technologies in fixed prosthodontics, presented by Prof. Amr El-Etreby, Head of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics, together with faculty staff from the department. The program also includes lectures on advanced dental implant technologies, delivered by Prof. Ahmed Osama, Head of the Department of Removable Prosthodontics.

In addition, students will receive practical training on the latest digital endodontic techniques under the supervision of Prof. Abeer Hashem, Head of the Department of Endodontics, alongside members of the department's academic staff. The camp continues to provide an integrated educational experience combining scientific lectures, practical workshops, and direct clinical training

The camp also highlights fruitful collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry and the Ain Shams University Career Center, led by Dr. Ola Mohamed Samy, Director of the Career Center. As part of this partnership, the Center is delivering a two-day workshop to strengthen students' professional skills through training in digital marketing using the Faculty's computer laboratories.

Furthermore, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (iHub) at Ain Shams University, directed by Dr. Mohamed Magdy Mohamed, is contributing to the camp by offering training on mobile application development, entrepreneurship concepts, and project development. These activities are coordinated by Dr. Amira El-Naggar, Director of the Faculty's iClub, with active participation from Faculty students in organizing the camp's events.

The Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University reaffirms its commitment to adopting innovative educational initiatives aligned with the latest international standards. Through these initiatives, the faculty seeks to further develop students' academic and professional competencies, enhancing their readiness for the labor market and strengthening their competitiveness at both the national and international levels, in line with the University's mission and Egypt Vision 2030.
