The Faculty of Arts Featured on Egyptian Television in Special Episodes on Development, Innovation, and Shaping the Future

As part of the celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University, the “Al-Muntada” program, broadcast on Channel Two of Egyptian Television, hosted a distinguished group of the faculty’s leaders, professors, and students in five special episodes recorded on the faculty’s campus. The episodes were presented by media figure Dr. Hazem Abu El-Saud, President of the prestigious Maspero Academy, in an experience that reflected the depth of the anticipated cooperation between the faculty and the academy in the fields of training and mutual student qualification.

The episodes celebrated the faculty’s rich history and long-standing academic journey since its establishment, while highlighting its academic and cultural role in preparing generations of thinkers, researchers, and innovators. They also showcased the ongoing development across its educational, research, and community sectors.

The discussions featured faculty members and students from the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University, focusing on the faculty’s vision and mission of combining the legacy of academic heritage with the preparation of generations capable of keeping pace with the future. This is achieved through the continuous development of the educational process, linking academic study to labor market demands, and supporting creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Hanan Kamel spoke about the faculty’s enlightening role as a “miniature university” and one of the oldest humanities faculties in Egypt and the Arab world. She highlighted the significant progress achieved in academic programs, departments, training units, and student activities under the continuous support of the university administration led by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, alongside the support of the university vice presidents. She emphasized that the faculty seeks graduate students equipped with knowledge, skills, competitiveness, and creativity.

She also reviewed the efforts made to enhance student activities and services, expand practical training opportunities, and provide students with avenues to discover their talents and develop their abilities, contributing to the preparation of qualified cadres capable of adapting to labor market changes.

The discussions further addressed scientific research fields, support for researchers and scholars, and the encouragement of research ideas connected to societal and developmental issues. Dr. Hanan Kamel stressed the importance of integrating education with scientific research to build academically innovative personalities, while also supporting small and micro-enterprises and encouraging creative ideas that prepare students and graduates for professional life.

Dr. Esraa Fahim also highlighted the efforts of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, noting that despite only eight months since its establishment, the unit has achieved remarkable results by embracing several outstanding student ideas and projects and promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the faculty, thereby enhancing employment opportunities for students and graduates.

The episodes also witnessed a distinguished participation by student Shahd Emad, who shared the students’ experience within the faculty and explained how the training units and various activities provide real opportunities for skill refinement and capacity building, while also contributing to shaping students’ personalities.

The discussions were further enriched by academic analyses and commentaries from Prof. Naglaa Mahmoud and Dr. Mohamed Farid, who provided insightful perspectives on the faculty’s academic and human development efforts and its commitment to preserving its scientific and cultural standing.

The episodes additionally included recorded interviews and comments from members of student families and student activity groups, who expressed appreciation for the support, guidance, and diverse training opportunities provided by the faculty and the “Students for Egypt” family. They affirmed that student activities have become a genuine platform for discovering talents and promoting awareness and belonging.

During his moderation of the episodes, media figure Dr. Hazem Abu El-Saud emphasized the important role played by the Faculty of Arts in preparing cultural and research cadres. He praised the development he observed in the academic and training infrastructure and affirmed that the anticipated cooperation represents an important step toward exchanging expertise and building joint training programs that contribute to preparing generations more capable of meeting labor market requirements.

The discussions during the first episode revolved around the development of the educational process, enhancing students’ skills, and the diverse career opportunities offered by the faculty’s fourteen departments, in addition to showcasing successful experiences of students and graduates in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The remaining four episodes are scheduled to air on May 20 and 27, and June 3 and 10, at 7:00 PM on Channel Two of Egyptian Television. They will feature Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; along with several academic leaders and officials.
