Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, attended the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Information Systems (ICICIS 2025).
Prof. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, inaugurated the conference in the presence of Prof. Essam Khalifa, Head of the Computing and Informatics Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Ahmed Medien, representative of the IEEE Egypt Section; Prof. Khaled Negm, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Digital Government; Prof. Nagwa Badr, President of the University of East London at the European Universities in Egypt and former Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Ahmed Hamad, President of the University of Informatics; Prof. Hala Zayed, Secretary of the Computing and Informatics Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University; Prof. Hossam Fahim, Advisor to the University President for Digital Transformation; Prof. Hala Moshir, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Shereen Rady, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and the team of the University of East London, the academic partner of Ain Shams University.
A large group of deans of faculties of computer and information sciences across Egyptian universities, professors, researchers, and students also attended.
In her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence as one of the most vital and fast-growing fields of the future, spanning technology, medicine, space, and defense. She called for producing practical recommendations that serve the university, the nation, and humanity.
During her remarks, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel praised the college’s efforts in organizing the conference and highlighted the richness of the scientific program, which features keynote speakers from prestigious international universities in the fields of computing, informatics, and artificial intelligence, giving the conference a distinguished international character.
She also pointed to the faculty’s contributions to supporting the university’s digital transformation through the UMS system and the electronic archiving system for administrative processes.
During the opening ceremony, Prof. Rasha Ismail described the conference as a prestigious event and a unique forum that brings together leading scientists, experts, researchers, and innovators from around the world to explore the latest developments in computer science and emerging technologies.
She noted that ICICIS 2025 comes at a critical moment as the world follows rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, generative AI, and quantum computing—technologies reshaping our understanding of data, contributing to solving complex problems, and enabling the development of more efficient intelligent systems. These technologies form a major focus of modern research, allowing scientists to analyze and interpret large-scale data with high precision.
She added that ICICIS 2025 provides a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, creative ideas, and innovative research. It also offers an outstanding opportunity for researchers worldwide to present their work, discuss cutting-edge technologies, and engage in constructive scientific dialogue with international experts whose insights are essential to the future of the field.
Prof. Ismail further noted that the conference received research papers from various countries, including the United States, Ireland, Algeria, Iraq, India, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and, of course, Egypt.
All submitted papers underwent rigorous review by highly qualified specialists in computing and information sciences and were checked for plagiarism to ensure the quality and originality of the scientific work. The acceptance rate reached 47%.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, which will appear within IEEE and be indexed in Scopus.
She added that the conference hosts a distinguished group of keynote speakers from renowned international universities specializing in different fields of computer science. They are expected to enrich the conference with valuable scientific contributions. The keynote speakers include Prof. Hassan Abdallah, Dean of the University of East London (UEL); Prof. Huan Liu, Regents Professor and Ira A. Fulton Chair in Computer Science and Engineering, Arizona State University, USA; Prof. Robert H. Sloan, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), USA; and Prof. Shadi Albarqouni, Professor of Computational Medical Imaging at the University of Bonn, Germany.
At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Prof. Rasha Ismail and the conference management honored several distinguished figures, foremost among them Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University, in appreciation of their continuous support to the faculty.
