His Excellency pointed out the university administration’s commitment to ensuring continuous improvement in the university’s ranking in various international rankings. This is achieved through a strategy focused on raising international publication rates in prestigious scientific journals, providing financial support to researchers, and ensuring the quality of scientific research. This is in addition to increasing the number of incoming students and ensuring the establishment of international partnerships with major international universities, thus ensuring the production of highly qualified graduates capable of competing internationally.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the University’s International Ranking Department, explained that the university’s first appearance in the QS World Ranking was in 2013, when it achieved the rank of (700-601) out of a total of 700 universities. Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna added that the QS World University Rankings is one of the international academic rankings issued annually by the British higher education institution Quacquarelli Symonds. It aims to evaluate the performance of universities around the world based on a set of criteria that balance academic reputation, scientific research, international openness, and employment opportunities. These criteria include: academic reputation (30%), university reputation among employers (15%), faculty staff -to-student ratio (10%), number of research citations per a faculty staff (20%), international student ratio (5%), and international faculty staff ratio (5%). The latest edition of the rankings has also added an employment outcomes indicator (5%) and a sustainability indicator (5%), to more comprehensively reflect the quality of education and the global influence of academic institutions.
