The English medical team of the British Healing Little Hearts Charitable Foundation concluded its medical visit to the Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgery Hospital, under the care of Prof. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, where Prof. Tariq Youssef received in his office at the Training and Educational Development Center, the English medical team led by Prof. Ramana Dhanapunen, Consultant in Pediatric Cardiac and Congenital Defects Surgery at Alderhay Hospital in England, and the supporting medical staff, which included Prof. Mary Horan, Consultant Pediatrician, and Prof. Arul Narayanan, Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist.

And Prof. Tarek Youssef thanked and appreciated the medical staff for their efforts during their visit to the hospital over the past week, which resulted in performing complex pediatric heart surgeries free of charge for 15 cases of complex heart conditions and congenital defects for children at the Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgery Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals.

His Excellency indicated the desire to sign an ongoing cooperation protocol. He also requested that a report be submitted on what happened during the visit, as well as the development of a plan for cooperation, and the development of a training program for the work team, stressing the concerted efforts of all efforts for full support.

On another level, His Excellency stressed the concerted efforts and full support on his part and that of the Faculty of Medicine to make this extremely important project a success, noting that the Faculty of Medicine and Ain Shams University Hospitals are taking serious steps to develop and help many patients in Egypt and provide advanced and modern equipment.

The positives and challenges that resulted from the visit were also discussed, and plans for continuing cooperation were discussed between the two parties, who agreed on preliminary features for signing a continuing cooperation protocol for the benefit of heart patients and children with birth defects in Egypt and also carrying out several upcoming visits from Egypt to the United Kingdom and vice versa, where Its primary goal is to serve patients and train distinguished doctors and faculty members in the field of complex pediatric cardiac surgery, which is one of the rare medical fields in Egypt. The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery seek to develop their services and diversify medical expertise to improve the services provided to patients in Egypt. The visit also included providing the services of the English team in cooperation with the Egyptian multidisciplinary team in performing complex heart surgeries for children, diagnosis, and caring for children in intensive care after operations.

This was in the presence of both Prof. Muhammad Al-Ghannam, General Director of the Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgery Hospital, and Prof. Ashraf Abdel Hamid, Professor of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Asst. Dr. Ahmed Abu Steit, Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Assistant Consultant in Cardiac Surgery at Alderhay Hospital in England, and Dr. Taha Ali, lecturer of cardiothoracic surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, and coordinator of the visit.
