Launching the "Productive Student" initiative from Ain Shams University, in the presence of the Minister of Social Solidarity and the President of Ain Shams University

Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, inaugurated the “Productive Student” exhibition with the participation of productive families, which was organized by the Social Solidarity Unit at Ain Shams University, at the Faculty of Girls, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Affairs, and Prof. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Ministry of Social Solidarity for Social Policies, Prof. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, and coordination of Prof. Jihan Ragab, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Business and Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in the presence of the faculty’s vice-deans, former deans, and a group of faculty staff and students.

The exhibition comes within the framework of the protocol signed between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Ain Shams University.

Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, said that Egyptian women are strengthened by the support of the political leadership and strong state institutions, and investment in people will only be achieved through 3 axes, which are women's education, equal opportunities in education, promoting awareness and participation in the labor market, production, and social protection.

The minister emphasized that universities are the factory of youth, that universities are not only role in academic work, but have become open to their full potential as an essential participants in investing in people, and that the ministry is happy to extend partnership with all sectors in the country, noting that the ministry is working to build the country and invest in people, the Ministry is also interested in providing social and economic services to citizens, especially in rural and developed areas.

Al-Qabbaj also emphasized that poverty is not only met with cash support but also with work and production.

She added that today the productive student initiative was launched by 31 Egyptian universities with the support of 15 million pounds, in addition to the support of Nasser Bank to provide interest-free loans to support students. She also said that there are committees that will come down from the ministry for students with special needs and study their cases and those who are eligible so that they can issue integrated services cards.

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, affirmed, in his speech, that the initiative of the productive student in Egyptian universities has a great economic return that we will soon reap. He also praised the role of the Ministry of Social Solidarity by providing support in all fields at the university through financial and moral support.

The university president explained that the university is working to attract more people to engage in heritage projects, handicrafts, and rural industries, in addition to supporting various small and micro projects to stimulate the national economy.

Prof. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls of Arts, Sciences, and Education, confirmed that Ain Shams University pays great attention to small projects, discovering and developing students’ professional capabilities, upgrading them, raising the economic and social level of students, training them in craft and manual industries, and providing technical support represented in trainers and training courses on various activities.

In conclusion, Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, honored Dr. Nevin El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and handed her a shield from the university. The Faculty of Girls also presented a memorial gift, made by the faculty students, to His Excellency.
