Al-Ahram Conference for Medicine announces its recommendations at the conclusion of the third edition… Invitation to international companies to contribute to the localization of the biotechnology and oncology industries

The third Al-Ahram Conference for Medicine and Health Care invite international companies with great and deep experience to contribute with Egyptian companies and the City of Medicine to localize the manufacture of some biotechnology products, some oncology drugs, and some pharmaceutical raw materials in Egypt, in light of the great political support from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in turn, the state will provide All support and assistance to contribute to this settlement.

At the conclusion of its work yesterday evening, the conference called for benefiting from the scientific and research capabilities of research institutions in Egypt and Egyptian universities, and benefit from the human cadres in these centers and universities, to participate in supporting companies towards innovation in the field of pharmaceutical industries and medical devices.

         
   
         

The conference recommended that scientific medical societies in Egypt - each in their own specialty - develop scientific guidelines and treatment protocols for various diseases of various degrees.

The conference demanded the development of a mechanism for making data available and circulating it among the authorities entrusted with the health sector, as well as creating a mechanism for analyzing data and converting it into information that benefits the health system in making accurate decisions that maximize the outputs resulting from the use of innovative medicines and follow-up on their results, leading to rationalization of spending on medicines.

The conference recommended helping the health sector to expand the application of non-traditional solutions for pricing and making medicines available, taking into consideration the total cost of the service package and its outputs, not just the medicine, with the need for the private sector to participate to obtain the best results, reduce the burden on the health system and ensure sustainability.

The conference called for accelerating the legislation governing digital health services, such as telemedicine and digital pharmacy, encouraging the participatory state and integration between digital health service providers, and providing incentives to service providers in accordance with health digital standards from regulatory and insurance bodies.

The conference recommended supporting scientific research in the pharmaceutical sector and linking research plans in medical schools and pharmacy colleges according to the needs and the map of diseases, and the need for Egypt to enter the map of scientific research in the field of clinical trials, after approving the clinical research law and its executive regulations, and expediting approvals for clinical trials, in conjunction with raising awareness. The conference demands the need for coordination and integration between those in charge of the health system and companies working in the field to reach common goals, and the need to prioritize the priorities of the health system from global treatments, to ensure that they are available in a timely manner for the Egyptian patient, and to establish a mechanism to sustain the periodic review of fair pricing in light of global economic challenges.

He also recommended the generalization of the presidential initiative's model in applying economic studies to many activities in the health field and updating the health map of Egypt based on surveys, services, and data owned by the main initiatives as an important step in preparing for the comprehensive health insurance system, and the need to work to achieve financial sustainability through rationalizing spending. Building on the principle of (value-based services), linking health sectors, achieving sustainability of health services and comprehensive health care under the umbrella of Vision 2030, developing human resources, and training workers in the health sector.

The conference explained that attracting foreign investments in the pharmaceutical sector comes by encouraging and providing laws and trained personnel to invest in scientific research and innovation, setting a vision and identifying targeted drugs and diseases to attract investments and a mechanism for dialogue with multinational companies to overcome obstacles and double investments and manufacturing and motivate factories to manufacture medicines with a quality that matches the quality Globalism.

The conference emphasized that the Egyptian drug has a great opportunity in foreign markets, especially the surrounding and African countries, and there are many proposals to increase exports, including reconsidering the registration and pricing system for export, increasing bio-equivalence centers and adopting them internationally to facilitate studies and reduce their cost and accept partial shipment without canceling export approval with Extension of its validity for more than two months in order to save effort, time, procedures and mutual recognition between Egypt and African countries by registering medicines in order to facilitate their entry into the markets.

The conference thanked Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, for amending the provisions of the value-added law and issuing a law that contributed to supporting the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt and had a positive impact on the citizen, under the umbrella of the Al-Ahram Foundation.

     
 
     

The conference recommended the formation of a committee from the Tax and Customs Authority, the Medicines and Unified Purchase Authority, and the Medicines Division - under the auspices of Al-Ahram - in the presence of a representative of the newspaper. With the aim of maintaining a safe, effective and available drug, holding seminars to introduce the implementation of the ACI system for customs, and holding seminars to introduce the electronic billing system.
