A workshop on integrating renewable energies for advanced bioremediation

The Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Science, organized a workshop entitled "Integrating renewable energies for advanced biological treatment in the management of reserves and waste management", as part of the activities of the celebration of World Environment Day, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, a. Dr.. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.

De. Islam Adly, a lecturer in the Department of Entomology at the Faculty of Science, reviewed, during the events, the environmental initiatives presented by the Faculty of Science, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ragaa Stohi, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Amani Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, including the Wilderness Guardians initiative, also spoke about the damages of plastic waste on the beaches of the Republic.

Prof. Dr. Magdy Tawfik Khalil, Professor of Environment, Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, gave a scientific lecture on “Invasive Organisms and Their Impact on Biological Diversity,” as some organisms invaded ecosystems alien to them, such as the freshwater lobster that was imported by some fish farms in the eighties, and when their breeding did not succeed in these The farms threw it into the Nile waters and since then it has spread in the Egyptian fresh water, and Dr. Magdy explained that she was not eating fish, but tearing fishermen's nets and demolishing bridges.

But it helped eliminate schistosomiasis as it feeds on schistosomiasis snails.

Michel Fahmy, Professor in the Department of Chemistry, the problem of treating wastewater pollutants in water, and compared the old methods and techniques to remove these pollutants with modern and advanced methods, while Prof. Dr. Safaa Sayed Mahmoud explained the Impact of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence on Climate Change.

Youssef Ahmed, a fourth year student in the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, presented an advanced model for treating industrial wastewater under the influence of sunlight using nanotechnology.

During the activities of the workshop, Dr. Weam Imam, lecturer at the Department of Zoology, explained the effects of climatic changes on the Egyptian beaches on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

At the conclusion of today's activities, Prof. Dr. Noha Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research distributed certificates of appreciation to the participants in the events.
