On Wednesday, May 20, the eighth session of the Council of Education and Student Affairs at Ain Shams University for the academic year 2025/2026 was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, in the presence of council members, including deans of faculties, vice deans for education and student affairs, external members, and Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector. The session was hosted at the Faculty of Agriculture.
At the beginning of the session, Prof. Rami Maher Ghali expressed his appreciation to Prof. Walaa Abdel Ghani, Dean of the Faculty, for hosting the council’s activities, emphasizing that the Faculty of Agriculture is one of the university’s distinguished faculties.
For his part, Professor Walaa Abdel Ghani welcomed the attendees and presented an overview of the faculty, which is considered one of the oldest faculties at the university. He also reviewed the faculty’s various farms, some of which export products to European countries.
A documentary film was also presented highlighting the faculty’s establishment, mission, vision, and objectives, in addition to showcasing its diverse specializations and integrated expertise as a national center of expertise supporting agricultural development and the future of the agricultural sector in Egypt. The presentation also addressed the faculty’s effective contributions to national projects, its role in providing scientific solutions and supporting decision-making in the agricultural field, as well as its efforts in scientific research, international cooperation, and its most prominent graduates who have assumed leadership positions in various sectors.

Prof. Rami Mprocess andlso extended congratulations on Eid Al-Adha, stressing to the dean the importance of taking holiday periods into consideration during examinations, ensuring their continuous presence and close monitoring of the examination process, and immediately reporting any issues to the university administration to guarantee prompt handling.
He further affirmed his commitment to continuously following up on the examination process through inspection tours and field presence inside examination halls to ensure the smooth conduct of exams and provide a stable and suitable academic environment for students.
He also congratulated Prof. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, on his appointment as Advisor to the University President for Innovation, emphasizing the university’s interest in the innovation portfolio and its keenness to adopt students’ ideas and transform them into startups, in addition to supporting and encouraging innovative student projects and ideas.
The topics listed on the agenda were also discussed. Prof. Dina Lasheen, Director of the International Students Administration, reviewed a report on the numbers of international students and outstanding tuition fees. Prof. Rami Maher Ghali directed faculties to review and update all international students’ data on the UMS platform to ensure organized workflow, unified standards, and accurate student data across all university faculties.
Prof. Mariam Ayad, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, also reviewed the Center’s report concerning the quality of data submitted by some faculties regarding undergraduate academic programs, based on directives from the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
Dr. Mohamed Yehia Gawish, Lecturer of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences and Technical Coordinator of University Dormitories, presented the electronic management system for university dormitory services.
He reviewed the first phase of the project, which contributed to reducing paper congestion, supporting digital transformation efforts, assisting decision-makers, and enhancing transparency and fairness through the implementation of unified standards.
The first phase included an electronic application portal for admission, considering information related to both Egyptian and international students, in addition to providing electronic inquiry services.
The first phase also included several modules, namely user and permissions management, coordination management, admission requests management, dashboard management, reports and statistics, penalties and leave management, meal services management, and accommodation management.
All units of the first phase were implemented and activated across the six university dormitory branches during the current academic year 2025/2026.
The presentation also addressed the second phase of the project, which is currently under design and implementation, including integration with the university mechanization system and the electronic payment system.
The Vice President praised the efforts exerted in developing the electronic management system for university dormitory services under the supervision of Professor Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information.
Dr. Samar Ragab, Director of the Student Disability Services Center, also reviewed the Center’s action plan for the coming period in coordination with the faculties. She pointed to the great support provided by the Education and Student Affairs Sector since the Center’s establishment, expressing gratitude to Professor Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector, for their continuous support and provision of all logistical services, halls, and computer labs in university dormitories, as well as mobilizing all resources to ensure the Center’s success.
During the session, Prof. Rami Maher Ghali informed the council of a letter from the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, which included the approval of the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year during the Council’s session held on March 28, 2026.
The council was also informed of another letter from the Supreme Council of Universities that included directives from the President of the Republic to generalize AI-related curricula across Faculties of Computers and Information or Computers and Artificial Intelligence at universities, and to provide the Council with the formulation and preparation of AI educational courses in line with the targeted strategic objectives. The Council’s Committee for Computer Science and Informatics, during its session held on February 10, 2026, recommended coordination with Egyptian universities to prepare the curricula and provide the committee with previous recommendations on this matter.
The council was additionally informed of a letter from the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities concerning the follow-up of the Egyptian Survey of Student Engagement in Egyptian Universities (ESSE) from December 2025 until the end of July 2026. The Vice President stressed the importance of raising students’ awareness of the survey and encouraging them to participate.
The council was also informed of a proposal from the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the preparation of a university student guide for public universities.
The session also addressed updates regarding the uploading of new regulations (specialized and interdisciplinary) onto the Higher Education Sectors System platform of the Supreme Council of Universities.
During the session, the minutes of the Council of Education and Student Affairs meeting held on April 15, 2026, were approved, along with the minutes of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Education and Student Affairs meeting held on May 5, 2026, including all topics discussed therein.
