Within the framework of international partnerships aimed at supporting innovation and promoting scientific research, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, received a high-level delegation from the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) in Germany. This meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and student exchange, exploring mechanisms to link scientific research with industry needs, and developing future plans for joint collaboration on the "Innovative Solutions for Industry 4.0" (ISI4Egypt) project.

During the meeting, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel expressed her delight at this fruitful collaboration, emphasizing Ain Shams University's commitment to supporting and expanding international partnerships. She noted that this collaboration contributes to the exchange of expertise, enhances research capabilities, and facilitates innovative research projects that support the state's drive towards industrial and technological transformation.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance existing cooperation, particularly regarding the implementation of the ISI4Egypt project and discussing mechanisms for expanding its academic programs, most notably the Summer School program. A proposal was put forward to extend the summer and winter study periods to accommodate the diversity of cultures and educational systems worldwide, thus providing greater opportunities for international students to benefit from the academic programs and obtain distinguished degrees.

The visit included a field tour for the TU Berlin delegation to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub), accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Magdy. They learned about the center's operational mechanisms and discussed its role in supporting applied innovation and linking scientific research to industry needs. The tour also included a presentation on the mechanisms for evaluating and judging innovative ideas through the Research and Development (R&D) program offered by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center to industrial companies and institutions. Practical examples of collaboration with the industrial sector were also showcased.

In this context, the TU Berlin delegation participated in a judging session held today in collaboration with the Royal Company. This session was part of a joint research and development project to design a control arm for automated packaging within a factory, reflecting the center's practical role in providing innovative technological solutions that serve industry.
The collaboration between Ain Shams University and TU Berlin also includes several joint research and academic projects, among them the "Green Economy Project," which is also managed through the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, with support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This project aims to develop the skills of students and researchers and prepare them to meet the demands of sustainable development.
The visit also included extensive discussions between the TU Berlin delegation and officials from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) on ways to enhance joint cooperation. The center's diverse programs were reviewed, most notably student exchange programs, mechanisms for linking scientific research to industry needs, and support for startups and the promotion of an entrepreneurial environment.
The discussions focused on attracting investors and exploring opportunities for collaboration on joint projects in the coming phase, contributing to technology transfer and localization and supporting a knowledge-based economy.
The TU Berlin delegation also participated in a judging session for projects within the Research and Development (R&D) program adopted by the center to support industrial localization and enhance cooperation with companies and factories in Egypt. The judging session, held in collaboration with Royal Company, selected the best student team to complete a project designing and implementing a robotic packaging arm within a factory, in a practical model that reflects the integration of the educational process with industry requirements.
The delegation attended the judging events, followed by a joint meeting with Royal Company officials. During the meeting, Eng. Omar Khalil, General Manager of Royal Herbs, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation with Ain Shams University and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. He praised the quality of the submitted projects and affirmed the company's readiness to support and incubate outstanding projects, contributing to their transformation into successful industrial applications.
The delegation also toured the student projects at the center, where they commended the exceptional level of the innovative ideas and the competence of the Ain Shams University students. They emphasized the importance of this type of collaboration in preparing globally competitive talent.
The visit also included a tour of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, within the framework of the European Union's educational exchange program (Erasmus+), and in light of the joint agreement concluded between the two universities, and in the presence of Prof. Hoda Sousa, Director of the Grants and Projects Department, and Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, the university's coordinator for the (Erasmus+) program and Deputy Director of the Department.
The meeting reviewed available cooperation opportunities within the framework of the program. The agreement facilitates academic exchange for doctoral students, faculty staff, and administrative staff between the two institutions, contributing to the transfer of expertise and the strengthening of institutional capacities. Applications will remain open until the end of December 2026 to allow for the participation of the largest possible number of beneficiaries.
This visit aligns with Ain Shams University's vision to consolidate its international partnerships and develop its scientific research and entrepreneurship ecosystem, thereby empowering young talent and supporting efforts to achieve sustainable development.
