Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali El Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, and in a step that enhances Egypt’s position on the global medical map, the Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Ain Shams University organized its sixteenth annual conference, in cooperation with the twenty-seventh conference of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Society, with the aim of formulating a new future for treatment protocols and exchanging research experiences that serve the health sector in Egypt.

The University Hospitals Training Center and the Prof. Alaa Fayez Auditorium hosted the conference activities, which focused on the latest scientific developments in the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases and bone marrow transplantation. This was preceded by an intensive scientific program in which the university hosted 16 scientists from major international universities such as Harvard, McMaster, Philadelphia, and Columbia, in addition to experts from Norway and Saudi Arabia, to exchange advanced treatment protocols in line with global medical developments.

The opening ceremony was attended by a high-level number of medical and academic leaders, headed by Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Dr. Mohsen Al-Alfi, Professor of Pediatric Hematology and President of the Conference, Dr. Osama Abdel-Hay, Head of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Prof. Ashraf Abdel-Basset, former President of Mansoura University, and Dr. Ehab Khairy, Head of the Pediatrics Department at Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine, in addition to a group of professors and specialists who confirmed that this international cooperation reflects the scientific standing of Ain Shams University and contributes directly to improving the level of healthcare for children.

As part of a presentation on Egypt's pioneering role, Professor Mahmoud El-Metiny, former President of Ain Shams University, discussed Egypt's leading experience in liver transplantation over the past 25 years. Dr. Amr Mabrouk, Professor of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ain Shams University, highlighted the roots of medicine in ancient Egyptian civilization, emphasizing the importance of connecting young doctors with their rich medical history. The conference concluded by stressing the need to ensure the availability of safe blood and to support the bone marrow transplant program to alleviate the suffering of young patients.
