In line with the state's vision and directives to strengthen effective partnerships between the public and private sectors and support the growing expansion of the university education system, Ain Shams University signed a memorandum of understanding with Modern Group, which hosts the Cairo branches of Saint Petersburg State University and Kazan Federal University in Russia. This agreement aims to enhance the quality of education, develop scientific research, and serve the community while maintaining international academic standards.
The memorandum was signed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Walid Nabil Daabas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Modern Group, which includes the Modern University for Technology and Information and the Cairo branches of Saint Petersburg State University and Kazan Federal University.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Ayman Shafei, President of Saint Petersburg State University in Cairo and Kazan Federal University in Cairo; and Prof. Sherine Wagih Abdel-Malik, Vice President of both universities.
The memorandum aims to establish a comprehensive and innovative system in the fields of education, scientific research, knowledge dissemination, and community service, thereby strengthening integration between the public and private sectors within the higher education system. It also includes providing financial support to Ain Shams University, particularly the Faculty of Medicine and the development of its hospitals, and taking the necessary steps to designate Modern Group as a major sponsor of community service at the university.
The memorandum includes providing training opportunities for undergraduate students of the Modern Group Foundation, enrolled in branches of foreign universities hosted by the Foundation, as well as students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Modern University for Technology and Information, within Ain Shams University hospitals. It also includes training for students from the Foundation's faculties in some of Ain Shams University's laboratories.
Furthermore, the cooperation encompasses supporting the development of students' research skills through their participation in internationally competitive research projects that bring together branches of Russian universities, various research units at Ain Shams University, and the Egyptian Research Center at the Faculty of Medicine.
The memorandum also stipulates the management of an innovative system for the participation of faculty members from the faculties of Ain Shams University, especially in the medical, humanities, artificial intelligence and science sectors, alongside their counterparts from the Russian Federation in teaching courses and programs offered by branches of Russian universities in Cairo, in accordance with the standards approved by the Russian Federation, in order to enhance the exchange of educational experiences between the two sides.
The collaboration also includes the registration of jointly supervised postgraduate programs between Ain Shams University and the universities within the Modern Group Foundation. This will contribute to developing the skills of human resources, including teaching assistants and technicians, in addition to cooperating in organizing joint medical convoys and community activities and services.
