Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Jürgen Schulz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo, along with his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to strengthen academic and research cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Youmna Safwat, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun; Prof. Nahla Nagy, Head of the German Department at the faculty; Prof. Dina Lashin, Director of the International Students Administration; Prof. Suleiman Badr, Professor of German and Visit Coordinator; and Ms. Hana Brandt, Scientific and Academic Affairs Advisor at the German Embassy in Cairo.
During the meeting, which reviewed ways to enhance academic partnership between the two countries, the University President emphasized Ain Shams University’s keenness to strengthen educational and cultural relations with Germany. He also confirmed that all facilities and support would be provided to German students studying at the university, and that any obstacles they face during their studies would be addressed.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen expressed Ain Shams University’s welcome to expanding cooperation with German universities through launching joint educational and research initiatives and exchanging scientific and cultural visits. He affirmed the deep ties between Egypt and Germany, and highlighted that Ain Shams University, as a leading academic institution in the region, is keen to support international higher education institutions through its solid cultural heritage and distinguished human resources.
For his part, the German Ambassador praised the strength of Egyptian German relations, describing them as an exceptional strategic partnership. He emphasized the historical depth of the ties between the two countries across various fields, from politics and economy to cultural, scientific, and educational cooperation. He also commended Ain Shams University’s prestigious status and international reputation, expressing Germany’s aspiration to open wide avenues of cooperation with the university, contributing to the transfer of academic and scientific expertise and strengthening bridges of communication between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted the remarkable development of German language studies in Egypt, supported by the state, which has become a cornerstone in school and university education.
Additionally, the German Ambassador delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Al-Alsun on Egyptian German relations in the fields of scientific cooperation and university education for faculty staff, teaching assistants, and students.
