The Faculty of Computers and Information at Ain Shams University conducted a successful negative evacuation drill for the faculty building in coordination with the University’s Civil Defense Department. The drill was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty. It was supervised by Prof. Sherine Radi, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs; Mr. Mohamed El-Gohary, Faculty Secretary; the Civil Defense Department; and the Faculty Security Team. The drill was coordinated by Mr. Adel Mohamed Abdel-Latif, Director of the University’s Civil Defense Department, with an ambulance on full standby in case of any injuries.

The evacuation process lasted approximately three minutes. The evacuation team first ensured that all escape corridors and emergency staircases were clear of obstacles, after which the alarm sirens were activated to initiate the full evacuation of the building.
The evacuation team then guided all occupants toward the emergency staircases, instructed them to avoid crowding, directed them to the pre-designated safe assembly points, and ensured the complete evacuation of the building.

The drill was successfully completed without any injuries. Every member of the evacuation team performed their duties to the fullest, and the cooperation of the building’s occupants contributed to the successful completion of the drill in just three minutes.
Prior to the drill, the faculty had organized a workshop titled “Dealing with Fires and Hazards: Enhancing Awareness and Safety in Emergency Situations,” in cooperation with the University’s Civil Defense Department. The workshop reflected the faculty’s commitment to strengthening the culture of public safety and raising awareness of the importance of risk prevention.
The training workshop aimed to provide participants with essential knowledge and guidance on fire prevention methods and proper emergency response techniques. It also highlighted preventive measures that help protect lives and property on campus, in addition to training attendees on the correct use of various types of fire extinguishers.
