A new global milestone by Ain Shams University puts Egypt in the spotlight at the World Health Organization (WHO)

Ain Shams University has achieved a remarkable new global scientific and research milestone, adding yet another bright chapter to its distinguished record. One of its prominent experts contributed to the publication of two new books recently released by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Bogotá, Colombia. Dr. Nasser Mahmoud El-Khouly, from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, was listed among the distinguished international panel of experts who participated in preparing these two significant publications.

This selection stands as clear evidence of the world’s confidence in Egyptian expertise and highlights Ain Shams University’s leading role, with Dr. El-Khouly being the only Egyptian expert to participate in these WHO publications.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Nasser El-Khouly was also selected last month by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) during its World Congress held in Cape Town, South Africa, to serve as a member of the Scientific Committee and representative of Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University, affirmed that having the name of Ain Shams University, and Egypt, associated with a prestigious international organization such as the WHO represents a new global recognition of the university’s impactful research and scientific contributions, particularly in the field of global health issues.

Dr. El-Khouly stated that the newly released WHO publications are expected to contribute to the optimal use of contraceptive methods worldwide, considering women’s varying medical conditions. This could potentially help reduce maternal mortality rates globally by around 30%.

He added that this aligns with Egypt’s national efforts and strategic plans to address the population challenge and reduce maternal deaths, while also highlighting the extensive expertise of the Faculty of Medicine in this vital field.
