Ain Shams University witnesses the graduation of the sixth batch of the Professional Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Within the framework of Ain Shams University and the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences’ commitment to supporting students and researchers and enhancing joint cooperation in advanced research and scientific applications, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedin, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Islam Abu El-Magd, President of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, the graduation projects of the sixth cohort of the specialized Professional Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems for the academic year 2024/2025 were discussed.

         
   
         

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, with the participation of Prof. Ashraf Khaled Helmy, Acting Vice President of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences for Scientific Affairs, in the presence of Prof. Rasha Bandak, Diploma Coordinator from Ain Shams University, and Asst. Prof. Ghada Atta, Diploma Coordinator from the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, alongside Mr. Mohamed El-Khatib, Assistant Secretary of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and several faculty members from both institutions.

Prof. Amany Osama Kamel expressed her pride in the outstanding research projects presented by the students, emphasizing that the showcased work reflects high scientific effort and creativity in employing modern technology to serve the community. She highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting scientific research and developing academic programs in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt Vision 2030.

         
   
         

Prof. Ashraf Khaled Helmy also praised the students’ high research skills in applying remote sensing and GIS techniques to important environmental and developmental issues, affirming the authority’s continued support for fruitful cooperation with Ain Shams University in preparing scientific cadres capable of addressing future challenges.

The discussions included presentations of projects such as “Analysis of Geomorphological and Human Changes in Toshka Area (2000–2025): An Integrated Study” and “Monitoring and Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change Using Remote Sensing Data – Rashid, Egypt.”

         
   
         

The review committees included Prof. Abd El-Masih Semaan Abd El-Masih Youssef, Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University; Prof. Adel Abdel Hamid Shalaby, Head of the Environmental Studies and Land Use Division at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences; and Prof. Mohamed Saif El-Din Abd El-Wahed, Professor of Land Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University.

On the sidelines of the event, the top student of the fifth diploma cohort was honored, in addition to recognizing the management and faculty members of the diploma program.
