As part of efforts to develop and strengthen French language departments at Egyptian universities, a group of members of the French Language Departments Scientific Network at the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University (RDF) participated in the activities of the FEF Égypte Reinvente project. This was held under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.
The project aims to strengthen and develop French language departments at Egyptian universities.
This project is being implemented in collaboration with Aix-Marseille University in Aix-en-Provence, France, and the Cultural Sector of the French Embassy in Cairo.
Ain Shams University is among the 14 Egyptian universities participating in this project, with participation from four faculties: Arts, Al-Alsun, Girls, and Education. The university delegation included a select group of specialized professors and researchers.
From the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Maha Aliwa, Head of the French Language Department, Dr. Nadia Shama, International Relations Coordinator at the Faculty, and Dr. Mona Mohsen participated.
From the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Rania Adel Khalifa, Head of the French Language Department, also attended.
From the Faculty of Girls, Prof. Samah Nasr, Head of the French Language Department, Prof. Tahani Youssef, and Associate Professor. Maha Salama participated.
Associate Professor. Dina Shafei from the Faculty of Education also joined the delegation.
The delegation participated in intensive training at Aix-Marseille University, where the training covered innovative methods for teaching the French language and exchanged expertise with French professors. Delegation members also learned about the latest educational equipment and pedagogical practices in French language departments at French universities.
The group received an invitation from Her Excellency Ambassador Heidi Serry, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Marseille, to attend the Egyptian National Day celebration held at the Egyptian Consulate there.
In a related context, several members of the delegation participated in the 16th International Conference of French Language Teachers (FIPF 2025), held in Besançon, France, from July 10 to 17, where they presented research and participated in workshops addressing the latest trends in teaching French as a foreign language.
This participation represents an important step towards strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between Egypt and France, and developing the capabilities of French language departments at Egyptian universities, serving both the educational and research processes.
