The Japanese Cultural Day at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, with the attendance of a Japanese delegation

The Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, organized the Japanese Cultural Day, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Japanese Language Department at the Faculty. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty and Supervisor of the Department, and in the presence of Ms. Ayumi Hashimoto, Director of the Japan Foundation, Mr. Onodera, Deputy Director, Ms. Murakami, Visiting Lecturer at the Japan Foundation, Mr. Ito, Director of the Media and Culture Center at the Embassy of Japan, and a number of faculty staff, teaching assistants, and students of the department.

         
   
         

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University and Supervisor of the Japanese Language Department, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. She expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Embassy of Japan in Cairo and the Japan Foundation in Cairo for their significant support to the Japanese Language Department since its establishment, including support with educational tools, scientific and educational books in Japanese, and other scholarships for the department's students and graduates.

   
   

In her speech, Prof. Salwa Rashad emphasized that next September will mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Japanese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, with more than 600 graduates having graduated from the department since 2004 over a period of 21 years.

During this celebration, students presented many theatrical performances, songs, and traditional Japanese dances, while wearing traditional Japanese clothing (Yukata). The arts of Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) and Origami (the art of paper folding) were also introduced, giving the audience the opportunity to experience these arts themselves. The visiting Japanese professor in the department, Yama Oka, introduced the Japanese game of Karuta (a Japanese card game), giving the audience the opportunity to enjoy themselves by trying it. The outstanding students from each study group and the outstanding graduates of the department were also honored.
