Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, received His Excellency Ambassador Rui Tereno, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to Cairo, as part of the faculty's celebration of International Portuguese Language Day.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the Portuguese side, in addition to following up on developments related to the faculty's Portuguese Language Department.
During the meeting, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, reviewed the department's latest developments, noting that the Faculty had obtained the Supreme Council of Universities' approval to launch a postgraduate program aimed at preparing qualified personnel to work within the department.
A series of student activities were also presented, supervised by faculty staff from the Portuguese Language Department, in the presence of Advisor Irma Condales, Acting Head of the Department Dr. Reham Ezzat, and a number of department lecturers.
Activities ranged from translation to presentations on the cultures of Portuguese-speaking countries, reflecting the richness and diversity of the academic program.

At the conclusion of the event, His Excellency Ambassador Roy Tereno honored student Samaa Ahmed Al-Sheikh, winner of the literary writing competition for her short story, "Shadows of the Mirror," in recognition of her creative excellence. His Excellency also praised the outstanding performance of the department's students.
It is worth noting that the Portuguese Language Department was established at the Faculty of Al-Alsun in 2019 and has since graduated a number of outstanding students who have entered the labor market in various fields, most notably tourism, translation, and customer service.
