The fourth annual conference of the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, was launched under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali El Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals. A group of local and international professors and experts specializing in the fields of rheumatology and immunology participated in the conference.
At the opening session, Prof. Tariq Yousef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and praised the Internal Medicine Hospital's active departments and units across various specialties, most notably the Rheumatology and Immunology Department, which he described as an honorable model of integration and development.

He pointed out that the increasing demand for the department's services is not limited to those with limited incomes, but also includes members of the socially and culturally privileged, who trust the level of medical expertise and competence that characterize Ain Shams University Hospitals. This reflects the institution's distinguished reputation within the community.
Prof. Tarek Youssef emphasized the importance of holding such specialized conferences, given their genuine enrichment of the scientific and professional landscape, especially for junior doctors and trainees, who constitute the future nucleus of the medical system. He also emphasized the importance of discussing modern issues and emerging scientific topics at such conferences, which contribute to strengthening the horizons of both research and application.
In concluding his remarks, he wished a successful and fruitful conference, one that would achieve maximum benefit for all participants.
The conference was attended by Prof. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Tarek Mohamed Youssef, Acting Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Tarek Maged, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Prof. Dalia Fayez, Professor and Head of the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology at the Department of Internal Medicine and Chair of the Conference, a group of heads of rheumatology departments from Alexandria University, Al-Azhar University (Girls' Branch), Agouza Hospital, and the Military Medical College, and the Spanish expert, Professor Carlos, with the participation of a distinguished group of professors and consultants in the specialty.

The conference featured advanced workshops and scientific sessions, most notably a workshop on joint examination using X-rays. Sessions also covered the latest treatment methods for lupus, autoimmune rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia, as well as how to manage complex cases, with a focus on the latest scientific and research developments.
The conference also featured a presentation of the latest devices and technologies used to relieve the pain of fibromyalgia patients, along with a review of the latest recommendations from European and American conferences on the treatment of lupus.
It is worth noting that the conference's scientific program has been accredited by the American Association for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), equivalent to 32 accredited medical education hours, which reflects the conference's high standard and its impact on developing the medical and professional skills of participants.
