Ain Shams University and the University of Essex activate a cooperation agreement signed between them to enhance academic cooperation in the legal field

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Professor Onyeka Osuji, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Essex, to discuss ways to enhance academic cooperation between the two universities.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen emphasized that Ain Shams University is a prestigious university, founded in 1950, and a leading educational and research institution. He valued the cooperation with the University of Essex and welcomed the shared vision of developing innovative educational programs that enrich the educational process and keep pace with the latest developments in the field of law. He added that providing students with the opportunity to study elective courses specifically designed to suit their needs and circumstances, in collaboration with a world-class academic institution such as the University of Essex, is a true enrichment of their educational experience.

Professor Onyeka Osuji, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Essex, expressed his happiness with the collaboration with the prestigious Ain Shams University and its distinguished academic staff and outstanding students. He noted that the University of Essex looks forward to exchanging expertise and knowledge with the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University and developing joint academic programs that serve the interests of students and contribute to enriching scientific research at both universities.

         
   
         

He also expressed his hope to welcome faculty staff and students from Ain Shams University to the University of Essex and to enhance understanding and cultural exchange between the two universities.

Prof. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, emphasized that this visit serves as a clear roadmap toward building a true strategic partnership with a prestigious academic institution like the University of Essex. He expressed their aspiration to work alongside their colleagues at Essex to develop joint educational programs that enrich the curricula, provide students with broader horizons of comparative legal knowledge, and enable students to study jointly designed elective courses, creating a generation of distinguished legal professionals capable of understanding contemporary legal challenges from a global perspective.

The visit was attended from Ain Shams University by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Mohamed El Shafei, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Yassin El Shazly, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ahmed Dehoum, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Ahmed Khalifa, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Sherweit El Ahmady, Director of the International Students and Mobility Office. Mr. Gillette Matthew, Director of International Relations at the Faculty of Law, University of Essex, also attended from the University of Essex.

This visit is an extension of a previous agreement signed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Maria Vasli, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex, on February 17th. The agreement aims to establish a branch of the university within the new campus of Ain Shams University, to offer high-quality, internationally recognized academic programs, while enhancing academic opportunities by providing students in Egypt and the region with the opportunity to enroll in internationally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It also aims to offer dual or joint degree programs to provide students with an international educational experience, and to promote research excellence by developing joint research initiatives to address global and regional challenges, and establishing joint research centers of excellence to promote innovation and interdisciplinary studies. At the end of the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Law and visited the Zaffran Museum.
