The Minister of Higher Education honors the recipients of the best master's and PhD degrees in the engineering sector

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, honored the recipients of the best master's and doctoral degrees in the engineering sector, during his participation in the meeting of the Engineering Studies Sector Committee, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Diaa Khalil, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Dr. Abdul Hamid Shaira, Chairman of the Engineering Studies Sector Committee, and Dr. Muhammad Salihen, Secretary of the Engineering Studies Sector Committee, and the members of the committee, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

In his speech, the Minister praised the efforts made by the Engineering Studies Sector Committee, calling for doubling the number and types of awards as of next year, stressing the importance of supporting scientific research.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar suggested that a number of prizes shall be allocated as of next year to the best research, as well as scientific research that contributes to supporting industry and linking scientific research to industry, in addition to allocating scientific awards to the best scientific research for professors over sixty to motivate scientists and professors, especially in the fields associated with supporting industry, which contributes to improving the university’s ranking on one hand, and supporting scientific research in Egypt on the other hand.

The minister also requested that scientific awards be allocated for the best graduation project for students in the engineering sector, according to a set of standards and controls, so that it has scientific value.

For his part, Dr. Abdul Hamid Shaira, reviewed the stages of the national competition for the best doctoral and master's theses in the engineering studies sector, and its objectives, indicating that today we honor the recipients of the best master's and doctoral theses for the third phase of the competition for the years (2016-2018), stressing that the selection and evaluation criteria are clear, transparent and without any human interference, explaining that the total number of scientific dissertations that participated in the competition amounted to 42 doctoral dissertations and 52 master's theses from 19 faculties of engineering nationwide.

Dr. Shaira added that the number of winning master's theses in the competition are 3 master's theses with scientific awards, 3 master's theses with certificates of distinction, 2 doctoral dissertations with scientific awards, and 4 doctoral theses with certificates of distinction.
