Reaffirming its national and community role and reflecting its commitment to harnessing its scientific, medical, and research capabilities to serve the public, Ain Shams University has launched a comprehensive development convoy in collaboration with Tahya Misr Fund, the Red Sea Governorate, and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society to serve the communities of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad. The initiative is held under the patronage of Dr. Walid Abdel Azim El-Barqy, Governor of the Red Sea; Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; and Mr. Tamer Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of Tahya Misr Fund.

As part of efforts to oversee the services provided to residents, Dr. Walid Abdel Azim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, conducted an inspection tour to review preparations for the convoy. He was accompanied by Mr. Mohamed El-Gammal, Head of the Central Administration of the University President's Sector at Ain Shams University, and Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General for Education and Student Affairs. During the visit, the governor assessed the readiness of medical services and reviewed the convoy's operations and activities. The initiative includes the distribution of more than 10,000 food packages, 5,000 clothing items, 1,500 fully equipped school bags, 40 electrical appliances, and 20 wheelchairs, along with medical aid for people with disabilities. The accompanying medical convoy will also provide free medical examinations and medications throughout the event.

The Red Sea Governor praised the significant role played by Ain Shams University and Tahya Misr Fund in supporting the residents of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad. He commended their efforts to provide free specialized medical services and address the actual needs of local communities. He emphasized the importance of the convoy's integrated services, which cover more than ten medical specialties, include minor surgical procedures, and provide medications, health awareness programs, educational activities, and social support, thereby expanding access to comprehensive care for residents of the region.

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, emphasized that comprehensive development convoys are among the university's key initiatives for translating its social responsibility into tangible services that directly improve people's lives. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to mobilizing its academic, scientific, medical, and research expertise, alongside the capabilities of faculty members and specialists across its faculties and university hospitals, to deliver integrated services that address community priorities and actual needs.

He explained that the significance of these convoys lies in their ability to bring the university's expertise and resources directly to communities, particularly those in border regions and underserved areas. This approach facilitates access to medical, educational, and social services while promoting equal opportunities to benefit from specialized resources and services.

He added that collaboration with Tahya Misr Fund, the Red Sea Governorate, and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, together with the active participation of the university's faculties and various sectors, represents a successful model of coordinated national efforts and shared resources. Such partnerships help achieve a tangible social impact by transforming academic knowledge and expertise into development initiatives that respond to citizens' needs and support sustainable development.

The University President further stressed that the mission of these convoys extends beyond providing direct medical treatment to raising health and community awareness, promoting healthy practices, and encouraging participation in local development efforts. This reflects the university's broader role, which goes beyond education and scientific research to actively addressing societal challenges and improving quality of life.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen also expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with Tahya Misr Fund, the Red Sea Governorate, and all participating organizations. He reaffirmed Ain Shams University's commitment to expanding its development convoys across Egypt's governorates, with particular attention to border regions and underserved communities. He emphasized that investing in people is the true foundation of development and that coordinated efforts and collective expertise are essential to building a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Multidisciplinary Participation to Deliver Integrated Services

The convoy offers a wide range of medical, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, health awareness, and social services, with the participation of the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Mass Communication, alongside Ain Shams University Hospitals. This multidisciplinary collaboration reflects the integration of expertise across different fields and maximizes the university's human, scientific, and institutional resources to serve the communities of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad.
