The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Reham Ezzat, Acting Head of the Portuguese Language Department at the Faculty.

The meeting explored ways to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the Portuguese side in support of Portuguese language education and to broaden opportunities for introducing Portuguese literature, culture, and arts within the academic community. The two sides also discussed providing additional opportunities and scholarships for students of the Portuguese Language Department, enriching their educational and cultural experience and opening broader channels of engagement with academic and cultural institutions in Portugal.

The two sides also discussed ways to support and develop the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Portuguese Language, with the aim of enhancing the quality of education, advancing students’ linguistic and cultural skills, and creating broader opportunities for academic and cultural exchange and engagement with specialized institutions and organizations in Portugal.

The meeting also addressed the postgraduate program at the Portuguese Language Department, which was newly launched this year as a significant addition to the department’s academic and research pathways. The program offers advanced opportunities for students and researchers in the fields of Portuguese language, literature, and culture. Discussions also focused on ways to support the program, expand scientific cooperation, and promote the exchange of expertise with Portuguese academic and cultural institutions.

As part of the visit, H.E. the Ambassador toured the Portuguese Language Department, accompanied by Prof. Yomna Safwat, Dean of the Faculty, and Assoc. Prof. Reham Ezzat. During the tour, she was briefed on the department’s activities and educational resources. The meeting highlighted the pivotal role of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University in building bridges of communication between peoples and cultures and fostering academic and cultural dialogue between Egypt and Portugal through foreign language education and the study of their literature and cultures, thereby supporting the distinguished relations between the two countries.

The visit reflects the Faculty of Al-Alsun’s commitment to expanding its network of international partnerships and strengthening cooperation with foreign academic and cultural institutions. These efforts aim to further develop its educational and research programs, support its students and researchers, enhance the presence of Portuguese language and culture within the Egyptian academic community, and open new avenues for academic and cultural exchange and scholarships in the coming period.
