The Faculty of Medicine Concludes Advanced Doppler Program to Enhance Physicians’ Skills in Diagnosing Vascular Diseases

The Training Unit at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, concluded its “Advanced Doppler Ultrasound” program, held over five days from August 9 to 13. The program witnessed active participation from specialized physicians and received widespread praise for its scientific content and hands-on practical training.

The program was held under the patronage of Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals; Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Amany Rashad, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology; Dr. Karim Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Department’s Training Courses Unit; and Dr. Aya Emad, Director of the Training Authority at the University Hospitals.

The program covered the latest techniques and protocols in Doppler ultrasound examinations, beginning with the fundamentals of ultrasound physics and equipment settings, followed by examinations of the arteries and veins of the extremities and the carotid arteries, as well as the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. It also addressed advanced applications of abdominal vascular Doppler ultrasound, particularly for the liver and kidneys.

A key feature of the program was its strong emphasis on hands-on training, providing participants with the opportunity to directly apply the skills they had acquired. Physicians received practical training in performing examinations and managing a variety of cases, while also learning to identify and avoid common errors to achieve the highest levels of diagnostic accuracy.

Participants praised the program’s high scientific standards and professional organization, emphasizing the importance of practical training in strengthening their skills and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and daily clinical practice. They also expressed their hope that similar specialized training programs would continue to be offered.

The program reflects Ain Shams University’s commitment to supporting continuing medical education and specialized training, as well as promoting the transfer of scientific and clinical expertise and practical skills to physicians, thereby contributing to improved medical practice and enhanced quality of healthcare.
