Education and Student Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University Participates in the 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026”

Ain Shams University, represented by the Education and Student Affairs Sector – General Administration for Youth Welfare, is participating in the activities of the 12th African University GamesCairo 2026,” hosted by Egypt from September 8 to 16, with the participation of approximately 2,000 athletes and administrators representing 81 universities from 17 African countries.

The Games are organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the African University Sports Federation, and the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation. This marks the first time in the history of Egypt’s hosting of theAfrican University Games, reflecting Egypt’s prominent position and role in supporting university sports across the continent.

The participation of the Education and Student Affairs Sector – General Administration for Youth Welfare at Ain Shams University comes under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

The event is coordinated and administratively supervised by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector.

Ain Shams University’s sports facilities are hosting part of the Games’ competitions, bringing together male and female students from universities across African countries under the supervision of the Education and Student Affairs Sector – General Administration for Youth Welfare. The event represents a major sports and youth gathering that promotes communication among the continent’s youth and provides opportunities for cultural and civilizational exchange, alongside athletic competitions.

The “Cairo 2026” program includes competitions in 18 major sports, in addition to 3 recreational sports and 4 Paralympic sports, providing participants with a diverse program that combines athletic competition with recreational activities and promotes the values of participation, competition, and the exchange of expertise.

Paralympic sports also hold an important place within the Games’ activities, reaffirming the organizers’ commitment to supporting the participation of students with disabilities, promoting the principles of inclusion and equal opportunities, and providing all students with the opportunity to participate in university sports activities.

Ain Shams Universitys participation in and hosting of part of the Games’ competitions reflects the University’s commitment to supporting sports and student activities and enhancing its presence in international and African university events, contributing to strengthening communication and cooperation between students at Egyptian universities and their counterparts from various countries across the continent.
