Ain Shams University participated in a development workshop for its Master's program in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), hosted by the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH Köln) in Germany, as part of the iWater program funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

This participation comes under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, within the framework of the university's strategy to enhance international academic cooperation, develop graduate programs according to the latest global standards, and support national capacity building in priority areas, most notably the sustainable management of water resources.

The Master's program in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is the first national academic program specializing in this field, developed through a partnership between Ain Shams and Mansoura Universities, with academic support from Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany. It aims to prepare qualified professionals who combine engineering, environmental, and administrative expertise, enabling them to manage water resources efficiently, develop scientific solutions to water challenges locally, regionally, and internationally, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It is a multidisciplinary program that integrates engineering, environmental, economic, and administrative sciences.

The Ain Shams University delegation included Dr. Salwa Hassan Abdo from the Faculty of Agriculture and Dr. Yasmine El-Sawy from the Faculty of Engineering. They participated in workshops that discussed developing the program and enhancing its academic quality to align with the latest international standards and the needs of the water sector in Egypt and the region.
