A Successful Conclusion of the “Diagnostic and Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasound” Program at the Faculty of Medicine Amid Wide Praise for Its Scientific Content and Practical Training

The Training Unit at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, concluded the activities of the intensive training program “MSK Ultrasound & Interventions” under the patronage of Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the Hospitals, Prof. Amany Rashad, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, and Dr. Kareem Ahmed Abdelaziz, Director of the Department’s Training Programs Unit. The program was held over six consecutive days from April 18 to 23, achieving remarkable success and active participation from specialized physicians.

The program was distinguished by its comprehensive and precise scientific coverage of all ultrasound applications in diagnosing joint, tendon, and muscle injuries. The course discussed the latest international protocols, with the first days focusing intensively on diagnostic examinations, beginning with the fundamentals of ultrasound physics, device settings, and dynamic examination techniques for peripheral joints, including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle, in addition to the accurate diagnosis of tendon and ligament tears.

The final days of the program were dedicated to discussing and applying limited interventional radiology techniques under ultrasound guidance (US-Guided Interventions), including advanced techniques for injections involving joints, tendons, and peripheral nerves.

The course received wide praise from participating physicians due to its successful integration of strong theoretical content with intensive hands-on practical training on volunteers. This provided participants with a valuable opportunity to enhance both their professional competence and practical skills in examination and injection procedures. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, commending the professional organization, the richness of scientific information, and the practical skills directly relevant to physicians’ daily clinical practice, while emphasizing the importance of repeating such fruitful scientific events.

This event came within the framework of Ain Shams University’s ongoing commitment to continuous medical education and the transfer of clinical and practical expertise to new generations.
