Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Farid Moharram, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce; and Prof. Rana El-Helaly, Director of the University Center for Services for Students with Disabilities, and coordinated by Dr. Hanan Hussein, Director of the Unit for Students with Disabilities at the Faculty, the Faculty of Commerce held an awareness seminar on how to effectively support and engage students with special needs integrated into the faculty.

The seminar began with a welcoming address by Prof. Farid Moharram, who highlighted the faculty’s continuous efforts to support students with disabilities through its Academic Support Unit. He also spoke about the facilitative measures offered to these students during exams, such as the provision of dedicated exam rooms, extended time allowances, and the diversification of exam questions to accommodate different types of disabilities and ensure equitable access.

The seminar featured a lecture by Prof. Dr. Rana El-Hilali, who addressed the importance of integrating students with disabilities into their educational and social environments, and the need to overcome obstacles in order to uphold the principle of equal opportunity.

Prof. Dr. Mostafa El-Shahed, Deputy Director of the University Center for Services for Students with Disabilities, also delivered a talk on the appropriate etiquette for interacting with students with disabilities and how to provide them with meaningful support.

Additionally, Dr. Doaa Mahmoud, Lecturer in the Department of Special Education at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, presented various teaching methods and strategies that faculty members and teaching assistants can adopt to facilitate the learning process for students with special needs.

The event was attended by a distinguished group of faculty staff, teaching assistants, student affairs staff, many students, and their parents.

This seminar comes as part of the faculty’s ongoing commitment to supporting its students, removing barriers to their success, and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
