A Visit of a delegation from the Egyptian Geographical Society to the Restoration Laboratory at the Faculty of Archaeology

Today, the Restoration Laboratory at the Center for Papyrological and Epigraphic Studies, Faculty of Archaeology, Ain Shams University, received a delegation from the Egyptian Geographical Society, headed by Prof. Mohamed Zaki Hamed El-Sedeimy, and attended by Dr. Osama Ahmed Hamid, Lecturer of Geographical Sciences at the Faculty of Arts, Benha University. The visit comes within the framework of cooperation between the two sides.

   
   

The delegation was accompanied by Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Bassem Mohamed, Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Iman Nabil, Director of the Center for Papyrological and Epigraphic Studies, along with the laboratory’s restoration team.

The visit aimed to receive a collection of maps that had been fully restored at the laboratory, as part of the cooperation protocol signed between the Egyptian Geographical Society and the Faculty of Archaeology, Ain Shams University. The protocol seeks to preserve documentary and heritage collections using the latest scientific methods.

   
   

The restoration work was carried out by a specialized team of restoration experts at the laboratory, including Manal Mohamed, Ahmed Sakr, and Hend Ibrahim. The maps were treated according to precise scientific standards to ensure the preservation of their historical value and their availability for research use.

This visit reflects the importance of collaboration between academic and research institutions in supporting efforts to preserve documentary heritage and enhance its use in historical and geographical studies.
