In line with the directives of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to support the research ecosystem and promote international cooperation, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) announces the opening of applications for the ninth call of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) Program.
The program aims to fund joint research projects in the fields of agriculture and water management through research consortia comprising at least four entities from different countries, contributing to addressing challenges related to sustainable food production and enhancing the efficiency of water resource management.
Funding amounts reach up to €200,000 for the Egyptian researcher participating in the project, and up to €250,000 if serving as the project coordinator, reflecting the state’s commitment to empowering Egyptian researchers and strengthening their international competitiveness.
In this context, Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, affirmed that this call comes as part of the Authority’s commitment to supporting applied scientific research and strengthening international partnerships. He noted that the PRIMA Program is one of the most significant initiatives linking scientific research to societal challenges in the Mediterranean region, particularly in the areas of food security and water resource management.
He added that the Authority is keen to provide all necessary support to Egyptian researchers to ensure their effective participation in such international programs, contributing to knowledge transfer, exchange of expertise, and maximizing the benefits of research outcomes.
Initial research proposals (pre-proposals) will be accepted until May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in accordance with the rules and conditions announced on the Authority’s official website:
