On the sidelines of the forum titled “Ain Shams University as a Strategic Supporter for the Localization of the Semiconductor Industry and Embedded Systems,” Prof. Hisham Haddara, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Innovation, and Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, delivered a presentation offering a comprehensive vision of the university’s role as a leader of innovation for sustainable development. He emphasized that innovation is no longer an option, but rather the core strategy for achieving genuine development based on transforming knowledge into economic value.

He highlighted the importance of adopting a comprehensive national innovation policy grounded in a clear future-oriented vision, supported by effective governance and integration among state institutions, alongside redefining the role of the university as a primary engine of innovation through partnerships with economic and social development sectors.
He also stressed empowering and holding accountable leaders of education and research institutions and embedding an entrepreneurial culture within universities to prepare students to compete in the knowledge economy, amid the global shift toward the era of “knowledge wealth.”

This was followed by a panel discussion titled “Universities and Research Centers as Key Supporters of Industry,” moderated by Prof. Hossam Osman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Innovation, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics and industry experts.
The session discussed the university’s role as a driver of innovation and an accelerator for industry, the importance of the knowledge economy and intellectual property as added economic value, and the development of an integrated ecosystem linking scientific research with industrial application and entrepreneurship.
The discussion also showcased successful startup models founded by graduates of Ain Shams University and reaffirmed the encouragement of university affiliates to establish innovative companies. Industry experts offered advice to students, outlining success factors in the electronics and semiconductor sectors, as well as their perspectives on promising opportunities and the future of the industry in Egypt.
The session reflected a vision of a university that leads innovation as an active partner in building a national economy based on knowledge and advanced technology.
