The 2025 edition of the Arab University Rankings has announced the inclusion of Ain Shams University among the top ten Arab universities for the third consecutive year, marking a new milestone that further enhances its academic and research standing at both the regional and international levels.
This notable advancement comes from among 285 participating universities representing 20 Arab countries, including 54 Egyptian universities, reflecting the advanced position that Ain Shams University has secured within the Arab higher education landscape.
The Arab Council for University Rankings, established in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Association of Arab Universities, the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), is considered one of the most prominent Arab evaluation frameworks. Its first edition was launched in December 2023.
The ranking is based on four main pillars: teaching and learning, scientific research, creativity, leadership and innovation, as well as international and local cooperation and community service.
Each pillar is assessed through nine precisely defined indicators with specific weightings, ensuring objectivity and transparency while accurately reflecting the real performance of academic institutions.
The ranking also aims to support the transition toward third- and fourth-generation universities by incorporating indicators related to open science, strengthening international partnerships, and linking research outputs to societal needs, transforming them into innovations with tangible impact.
In this context, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stated: “The inclusion of Ain Shams University among the top ten Arab universities in the 2025 Arab University Rankings represents the culmination of integrated institutional efforts and a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the quality of education and scientific research, promoting innovation, and strengthening community engagement, in line with the Egyptian state’s orientations and Egypt Vision 2030. This achievement reflects the university’s commitment to applying international standards, expanding horizons of academic and research cooperation at both the Arab and global levels, and supporting the transition toward third- and fourth-generation universities, thereby reinforcing the university’s role as a driver of sustainable development and a cornerstone of the knowledge society.”
