The Egypt Government Excellence Award convened the judging committee meeting for the Ain Shams University Award in its second edition (2025), in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; and the distinguished members of the judging committee: Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, President of Tanta University; Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of Hertfordshire University; Prof. Mona Hagrass, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Mohamed Abdel Rabbo, Dean of the Institute of Productivity and Quality at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport; Ms. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Egypt Government Excellence Award; Dr. Khaled Sharaf El-Din, Accredited Assessor of the Egypt Government Excellence Award; Dr. Ahmed Seddik, Director of Evaluation and Quality at the Egypt Government Excellence Award; and Dr. Abdel Hakim Radwan, Evaluation and Quality Consultant at the Egypt Government Excellence Award.
The meeting aimed to discuss the outcomes of the evaluation stages and follow up on the judging process in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Universities.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen opened the meeting by emphasizing the University's commitment to achieving excellence as a core component of its strategy at all institutional levels. He referred to several challenges faced by long-established universities in developing sustainable infrastructure, while highlighting the importance of advancing human capital and investing in the University's distinguished talents. He also praised the ongoing efforts in digital transformation across the University’s faculties and administrative units, noting that several faculties and centers had previously won the Government Excellence Award.
Prof. Ghada Farouk added that the participation of 14 faculties represents a significant achievement that reflects the dedicated efforts and the positive competitive spirit toward excellence. She noted the University’s keenness to effectively participate in the Egypt Government Excellence Award for Egyptian universities, alongside adopting governance practices, improving performance, and supporting institutional excellence at both the individual and organizational levels. She affirmed the faculties’ commitment to continuous and sustainable development, which was evident in the progress made by several faculties in the second edition of the award compared to the first.
Ms. Soha Saeed praised the leadership of Ain Shams University and its dedication to sustaining the application of the excellence model in its second edition. She underscored the importance of investing in academic and administrative categories, including Excellence Ambassadors and internal assessors, as a fundamental pillar for the continuity of development. She also commended the efforts of the internal award team and their role in embedding a culture of excellence among university staff and leveraging human potential.
The meeting included a review of the internal assessment teams’ work by the judging committee, with the participation of 18 internal assessors who presented the results of more than 1,800 evaluation hours for the faculties shortlisted for the final stages, five faculties out of the 14 participating. The discussions covered key strengths, improvement opportunities, and final recommendations aimed at supporting development efforts and reinforcing a culture of excellence within the University.
At the conclusion of the meeting, five faculties, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Al-Alsun, were selected to represent Ain Shams University in the upcoming 2026 cycle of the Egypt Government Excellence Award.
