In an unprecedented achievement for the staff sector at Ain Shams University, the Egyptian champion Fatma Mahmoud, an employee at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, has inscribed her name in golden letters in the annals of Egyptian and Arab sports after winning the gold medal at the “Cairo 2025” World Senior and Special Needs Karate Championship.
The Egyptian national team champion succeeded in securing a historic milestone, becoming the first female athlete in the history of Egypt and the Arab world to win a global gold medal in the “Performance Karate – Women” category during the championship hosted by Egyptian arenas on Saturday, 29 November 2025.

The Egyptian Karate Federation celebrated this remarkable victory, affirming that “Egypt is writing history at the World Championship,” following the success of Ain Shams University’s representative in reaching the global podium and raising the Egyptian flag high amid fierce competition with elite world champions.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, extended his sincere congratulations to the university’s champion, noting that this achievement reflects the excellence of the human capital within the university, not only academically, but administratively and athletically as well.
He emphasized that Ain Shams University takes pride in having distinguished role models within its administrative body who can represent Egypt honorably in international arenas, stressing the university administration’s commitment to providing all forms of support and care for its outstanding talents in various fields.

For her part, champion Fatma Mahmoud expressed her overwhelming joy at this world title and her pride in being the first Egyptian and Arab woman to win a world gold medal in Women’s Performance Karate.
