Ain Shams University announces its participation in the fifth edition of the National Reading Project, in line with the directives of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aimed at supporting students at Egyptian universities and institutes by equipping them with a variety of skills and knowledge. This initiative aligns with the National Strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt Vision 2030, which emphasize consolidating partnerships and fostering constructive cooperation with educational and national institutions to prepare a successful and distinguished youth leadership in Egypt.
In its commitment to continuously promoting a culture of reading and enhancing cultural awareness among students and faculty members, Ain Shams University participates in the project as part of its ongoing efforts to instill the values of knowledge and creativity and to build an informed generation capable of critical thinking.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, highlighted that the university’s participation in the fifth edition reflects its dedication to fulfilling its community and cultural role. He emphasized that the university provides all necessary means to enable students and faculty members to actively participate in the initiative, whether through organizing workshops or offering diverse knowledge resources in university libraries, and he invited all students and faculty members to join.
Prof. Abdelmonem Ahmed Zaki, Professor of Greek and Latin Studies at the Faculty of Arts and the university’s project coordinator, explained that students can participate through the “Cultured University Student” competition within the National Reading Project. The competition offers different levels to suit participants, with simple registration conditions as follows:
Competition Levels:
Silver Level: Read and summarize 30 books.
Gold Level: Read and summarize 50 books.
Diamond Level: Read and summarize 100 books.
Cash Prizes:
1- Diamond Level First Place: EGP 1,000,000 + trophy and medal.
2- Gold Level First Place: EGP 500,000.
3- Silver Level First Place: EGP 250,000.
Additional valuable cash prizes are awarded up to fifth place in each level.
Competition Conditions:
- Registration is individual.
- Books must cover at least five different knowledge areas.

Ain Shams University’s participation in the fifth year of the project is organized by the Education and Student Affairs Sector and implemented by the General Administration for Student Welfare, Cultural Activities Department, under the administrative supervision of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
