He also recalled one of Egypt’s greatest legal victories: the 1988 ruling of the International Arbitration Tribunal affirming Egypt’s sovereignty over Taba.

The University President announced that one of the faculty’s halls will be named after the late Counselor Hesham Barakat, in honor of his sacrifice and distinguished service. He praised the faculty’s contributions over the past 75 years to Egypt’s academic, social, and legislative life, describing it as “the university’s house of legal expertise.”

Addressing the graduates, Dr. Diaa reminded them that law is a trust and a mission before it is a profession, urging them to uphold this trust with honesty and integrity and to be “bright beacons” championing the rule of law and serving their institutions and their homeland. He expressed heartfelt thanks to the parents and faculty members for their sincere efforts in preparing outstanding graduates who bring pride to the university.

In his speech, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, delivered a powerful message to the students, affirming that the faculty will always remain “the guardian of justice and a pillar of progress” in Egypt and the Arab world.

He pointed out that the celebration coincides with the anniversary of the October 6th victory, reminding everyone of the significant role that legal professional played in the “complementary battle for victory” particularly in reclaiming Egyptian land through the international arbitration over Taba. He stressed that “the law will forever remain the nation’s sword and shield, safeguarding its rights.”

Dr. El-Shazly highlighted the faculty’s pioneering role through the decades, having produced “generations of legal, political, and economic leaders” who have deeply influenced legislative and judicial thought. He paid tribute to the founding professors who laid the cornerstone of the faculty and expressed gratitude to successive leaders for their efforts in modernization and development.

In his message to the graduates, whose graduation he described as “a symbol of the continuity of giving”, he urged them to adhere to knowledge, hard work, and unity, as they will together form the two wings of the justice system (the judiciary and the legal profession). He also extended appreciation to the parents, calling them “the true partners” in this success.
