Ain Shams University Launches Its First Comprehensive Development Convoy of the New Academic Year to Serve the Residents of Ahalina 1 District

In light of Ain Shams University’s pioneering role in providing integrated community and developmental services, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector launched the new academic year by organizing the first comprehensive development convoy in Ahalina (1), located in El-Salam district – Cairo Governorate, under the patronage of Dr. Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Deputy Governor of Cairo, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

This morning, Prof. Ghada Farouk inaugurated the convoy activities with an inspection tour at the medical center in Ahalina (1), where she visited the convoy clinics and reviewed the variety of services provided.

During the tour, she emphasized the university's keen interest in actively participating in all presidential initiatives, aiming to bring about qualitative changes in raising awareness and enhancing the culture of residents in the most underserved areas. The convoy seeks to offer health, awareness, and community services that contribute to improving quality of life, and investing in human capital to support sustainable development, based on the belief that social and economic development cannot be achieved without genuine human development across various areas.

She also held conversations with women from the local community who benefited from the convoy’s services, to better understand their needs and the extent to which the convoy addressed them.

Prof. Ghada Farouk added that organizing this convoy stems from the university’s commitment to its social responsibility and support of sustainable development plans, noting that the convoy includes integrated pillars such as: medical services, educational and awareness campaigns, literacy programs, social support, and art workshops for children.

The convoy’s medical pillar included clinics for Internal medicine, Orthopedics, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), Pediatrics, Obstetrics and gynecology, Dermatology, Psychiatry and neurology, and Ophthalmology for individuals with special needs
These were operated under the supervision of the Faculty of Medicine.

Additional services included a blood pressure and glucose testing unit supervised by the Faculty of Nursing, a dental clinic, and a pharmacy offering free medication.

The awareness campaigns included lectures on Reproductive health and family planning, Early detection of breast cancer, Proper nutrition, Prevention of epidemic diseases, and The risks of school dropout

In the area of social support, the convoy included contributions from the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Decent Life Foundation (Hayah Karima), alongside literacy and adult education activities, and children’s art workshops, which included T-shirt printing, Beadwork, and Puppet-making.

This convoy was organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector in cooperation with the Faculty of Business, and supervised by Prof. Mohamed Morsi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Hala Suweed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary of the Sector (Administrative Supervision), and Prof. Gehan Ragab, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Business

Participating entities included Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Specific Education, Faculty of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Childhood Studies, Adult Education Center, Egyptian Red Crescent, Decent Life Foundation (Hayah Karima)
