The Moot Court Season Commences at the English Section of the Faculty of Law for the Academic Year 2025–2026

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting student activities and enhancing students’ practical skills, the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, held an orientation session for students of various divisions to introduce the Moot Court activities for the new academic year.

The session was opened by Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, the Dean of the Faculty, who affirmed the administration’s full support for these activities, as they provide added value in shaping the legal character of students and developing their practical abilities. He emphasized that moot court practice offers students vital opportunities to train in essential legal skills such as deep legal analysis, persuasive argument construction, and effective oral advocacy before arbitration panels and judicial bodies. He also noted the faculty’s strong commitment to actively participating in major international competitions.

Prof. Hossam El-Attar, Director of the English Section, also addressed the students, highlighting the section’s deep interest in these activities, through which its students have achieved remarkable accomplishments in recent years. He encouraged students to participate and make the most of the opportunities provided by the faculty to refine their skills and expand their legal experience.

         
   
         

In her remarks, Dr. Basma Adel El-Sen, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation, explained that the Moot Court experience extends beyond academics, as it also fosters critical thinking and teamwork among students. She confirmed that the Office of International Cooperation provides full support to ensure the success of this enriching experience. Dr. El-Sen also announced that the faculty will organize an internal moot court competition to offer an opportunity for students who were not selected for international competitions, allowing them to gain practical experience and develop advanced legal skills.

The session concluded with a speech by Dr. Ahmed Fathy Khalifa, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, in which he outlined the faculty’s plan to participate in several international competitions this academic year, including:
Oxford Moot – Jessup – Willem C. Vis – Sports Arbitration Moot.

He noted that such participation opens wide horizons for students to engage with diverse legal systems and international legal practices. He stressed that participation in these events is not merely an extracurricular activity, but rather a strategic investment in preparing a generation of legal professionals capable of competing both regionally and globally.

Following the speeches, the faculty’s moot court coaches, comprising trainers and former student participants, introduced the working plans for each competition, explained the training schedules, and outlined the stages of student selection. They emphasized that the preparation process will be conducted according to rigorous standards to ensure students benefit to the fullest and are trained at the highest level of competence.

The session also witnessed the participation of several former students who had previously represented the faculty in these competitions. They shared their experiences with their peers, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to interactive learning as a core part of its educational mission.
