Ain Shams University's response to what was circulated about the health condition of Dr. Noha Mohamed Hani, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine

In response to what has been circulating on social media regarding Dr. Noha Mohamed Hani, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, appealing to the university president to provide the necessary medical support to treat her Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy disease (CIDP), the university confirms the following:

Ain Shams University is always keen to provide all forms of support and care to its faculty staff, employees, and students, and based on its ethical and professional commitment to its university community.

The university administration treated Dr. Noha Mohamed Hani's health condition with the utmost seriousness and care. All possible medical care was provided at the university's hospitals, including plasmapheresis sessions at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital and ongoing physiotherapy sessions, without imposing any financial burden on her.

The university also made sure to provide intravenous antibody therapy (IVIG), which costs approximately one and a half million Egyptian pounds per month, fully borne by the university. The treatment is difficult to obtain through the Unified Procurement Authority, and its recent difficulty in being available in local markets is due to its high cost and the difficulty of regular availability.

In this context, over the past two years, the university has borne nearly ten million Egyptian pounds to cover the medical expenses of Dr. Noha Mohamed Hani, out of its belief in the need to provide comprehensive care to its members without discrimination.

We emphasize that the delay in dispensing the final dose is an exceptional circumstance and has not been repeated. The university had already taken the necessary measures, prior to publishing the appeal, and communicated with the relevant authorities to secure the treatment and ensure its regular and uninterrupted dispensing.

The university expresses its full understanding of the importance of Dr. Noha Mohamed Hani's humanitarian and health situation and affirms its full commitment to continuing to provide her with the necessary medical care and support, ensuring her legitimate right to regular and stable treatment.

The university also emphasizes that its doors are always open for direct communication with all members of the university community and is committed to addressing any issues with a spirit of responsibility and cooperation, within a framework of mutual respect and professionalism.
