Ain Shams University explores academic cooperation with Vidzeme University in Latvia

As part of Ain Shams University’s strategic plan for internationalization and knowledge exchange with foreign universities, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Ain Shams University welcomed a delegation from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in Latvia.

The delegation included Dr. Kristaps Vilzēnbergs, Head of the Master's Program in Cybersecurity Engineering, Dr. Lauris Taube, Software Engineer and Lecturer in 3D Modeling (Blender) at the Faculty of Engineering, Eng. Linda Lānce, Biomedical Engineer, Researcher at the Institute of Socio-Technical Systems, and Lecturer in Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence Technologies, Dr. Inese Pabērzs, Head of the Communications Group at the Marketing and Communications Department, Dr. Edmunds Jansons, Head of the Master's Program in "Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence" and Ms. Katrīna Grigorjeva, Erasmus+ International Mobility Coordinator for Staff Affairs at the university

The visit was coordinated, and discussions were facilitated by Dr. Noha El-Rafai, University Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Program and Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Office, along with Dr. Aziz Shaker, Deputy Program Coordinator and Project Follow-up Officer at the Grants Office.

The visit lasted for a week, during which the delegation met with deans, officials, and coordinators from several faculties and centers, including The International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Faculty of Mass Communication, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University Hospitals and the Virtual Hospital, The Networks and Information Technology Center, The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, The Zafaran Palace Museum, and Various laboratories specializing in cybersecurity, virtual reality, and rehabilitation

The visit aimed to explore opportunities for academic cooperation and enhance international partnerships, particularly in areas such as student exchange, joint training, and the development of international academic programs.

The meetings addressed several important topics to strengthen collaboration between the two universities in fields such as digital innovation, interactive education, cybersecurity, rehabilitation, and marketing.

In addition, the delegation delivered several lectures on these topics, showcasing the European side’s expertise and experience in these fields.
